The HBXL Building Software 2025 releases are here! We’ve gone big with updates to five of our digital tools – EstimatorXpress, PlansXpress, BuildProjex, Health & Safety Xpert and ContractsXpert.

PlansXpress 2025:
- NEW Size-Customisable Roof Lanterns

For the first time ever, PlansXpress has size-customisable Roof Lanterns. It’s a highly requested feature — and now it’s here.
Roof lanterns are rapidly becoming a must-have in home extensions and refurbishments. These stunning three-dimensional, pitched glass structures bring in natural light from multiple directions, creating a bright, spacious feel that homeowners love. Now, builders and designers using PlansXpress can easily drop in roof lanterns of any size to reflect their clients’ vision.
The addition of size flexibility makes it easy to tailor your plans to any space, while impressing clients with stunning 3D visuals. Whether you’re working on a kitchen extension, orangery, or flat-roof conversion, this update makes presenting your ideas quicker and more professional than ever.
EstimatorXpress 2025:

Now in EstimatorXpress, you’ll be able to estimate any size roof lantern from scratch – or from a trace or drawing produced in PlansXpress. See above for details of the new feature in PlansXpress. By using both digital tools you can halve the effort. Drop your completed drawing or trace into EstimatorXpress, answer a few questions, and get an automatic estimate in minutes. All thanks to our unique X-Connex technology.
After careful research we have also uploaded new labour prices (on average up 6%). Wages in the construction sector have continued to rise, mainly due to labour shortages. It started following Brexit, and continues to be an issue. As a result of rising wage expectations, with other sectors offering competitive wages, the construction industry is in a difficult situation, trying to attract skilled workers and then retain them!
Material prices continue to be updated by our team on a monthly basis using our Price Tracker+. The price rises aren’t as sharp as they were during the Pandemic. But raw materials continue to rise, and there are always occasional supply chain disruptions, so nothing is stable for long. Concrete – both ready-mixed and blocks etc., and doors and windows, have all experienced notable price changes.
BuildProjex:
The list of improvements in BuildProjex is LONG! The development team have significantly upgraded the interface of our job and management software-in-the-cloud to make it even more user-friendly.

BuildProjex is going from strength to strength, and with the support of users, we’ve made changes that are making the app even easier to use. You can currently import your estimates and reports directly from EstimatorXpress into BuildProjex. And now you can import, directly into your app, your contracts and and legally binding documents (Under Consumer Rights Act) for consumer clients such as Notice of right to cancel, and Instruction to Start Work or Order to Change the Works. Basically covering your legal position, by supplying these from day one. Simple, but hugely valuable. 
With the growing importance of the ‘golden thread’ of information in new builds, in particular, BuildProjex is the ideal solution for bringing all your documentation into one place, for now and in the future. When Building Control want to check your photos, you know where to find them.
Health & Safety Xpert 2025:
- NEW Lithium-Ion Battery Risk Assessment
- Improved document layout of Register type documents. E.g. HS01: Site attendance register (Visitor register)
- Manually add your own tasks to the Gantt chart and link up relevant documents to them
- Option to insert your company logo into the header/footer of documents

Now you can click a button in ContractsXpert to directly drop your contracts, Change of Works, Notice of Right to Cancel, and so on, into the relevant project in BuildProjex. It’s a simple feature, that is another reminder of the importance of BuildProjex. Seamless connectivity between our digital tools is a game-changer.
